JIVULLAS — Celebrating the joy of life

How we work with children

Six ground rules. Every volunteer agrees to them before a session, and they are published here so schools and homes can hold us to them.

  • Never alone with a child. Volunteers work in groups, in open spaces, in sight of the host institution's staff.
  • Photographs only with permission. We take group photographs at sessions to show people what this work looks like — with the institution's written permission first. No child is named, no school is identified without its consent, and any photograph comes down the moment we are asked.
  • No private contact. Volunteers do not take a child's number, add them on any platform, or contact them outside a session.
  • No physical discipline. Ever, for any reason.
  • Nothing preached, nothing sold. No religious or political material is spoken, taught or handed out.
  • The institution's rules win. Where anything here conflicts with the school's or home's own policy, theirs applies.

If something is wrong

Staff, parent, volunteer or child — if something at one of our sessions worried you, write to info@jivullas.org. You do not need proof and you do not need to be certain. A volunteer who breaks a rule above stops volunteering with us, without a warning step.

If a child is in immediate danger, do not wait for us: Childline 1098, or Police 112.
